I love writing! I don’t know if this passion is genetic or learned. It probably doesn’t matter. All I know for sure is that I realized in elementary school that I had the bug. Somewhere in early adulthood I discovered that I also enjoy teaching and public speaking. During my 26-year career at the University of Dayton I had many opportunities to practice all three.
My mission is to build a community of professionals who are committed to their personal growth and dedicated to healing our sick culture. I experience great joy when a struggling person is redeemed and lifted to a higher level of productivity, professionalism and faith. Everyone should be so fortunate as to match their passions with their career.
The following list of interests and experiences may offer clues about the perspectives that influence my writing:
- Professional: writing, leadership development, teaching, mentoring, business development, information technology, science, communications, networking, and marketing
- Sports: golf, soccer, football, basketball, softball, swimming, and volleyball
- Music: solo and ensemble singing, trumpet, and bass guitar
- Hobbies: writing, reading, traveling, musical theater, biking, canoeing, genealogy, public speaking, public address announcing, and radio broadcasting
- Faith and Service: Community service, worship, Christian ministry, and volunteering
- Priorities: 1) God; 2) family; and 3) career
About My Blog
Everyone has a story to tell. The Internet makes it easy and affordable to do just that.
“The best thing about the Internet is that it makes everyone a publisher. The worst thing about the Internet is that it makes everyone a publisher.” — Unknown
Through this Website, I will publish my stories, thoughts and ideas inspired by the books I read, the many people who have been part of my life and a wealth of life experiences. My intent is to offer encouragement, inspiration, insight, and a bit of humor with the hope that wisdom obtained through the experience of others (including my own bloopers) might save you time and effort in solving particular challenges that you face. At the very least, I hope to add a bright spot to your day.
I love writing about business because of the digital revolution that is going on right now in the telecommunications industry. Business success is about timing. If you aren’t allergic to money or afraid of opportunities, I invite you to take a peek at my marketing business.
Faith is most important. I do not believe faith can be isolated as a Sunday morning event. What and why I believe about how and why I am here is the cornerstone of my philosophy and affects every aspect of my life. It would be disingenuous of me to omit faith from my writings. If you are offended by references to Christianity or quotes from the Bible, you may struggle with many of my posts.
As you have undoubtedly noticed, I enjoy using quotations in my writings. In fact my blogs are loaded with quotations I’ve collected from e-newsletters, books, magazines, movies, music, and Websites.
“To repeat what others have said, requires education; to challenge it, requires brains.” — Mary Pettibone Poole
“Typos are very important to all written form. It gives the reader something to look for so they aren’t distracted by the total lack of content in your writing.” — Randy K. Milholland
Many of the quotes I select are attributed to people with whom I disagree philosophically on foundational issues. However, one of my beliefs is that two people can almost always find something to agree upon. Taking a page from the broadcasters handbook, I offer the following modified disclaimer:
“Sources used for this Website do not necessarily share the values and opinions of the management of ‘Clancy’s Quotes.'”
In other word, if a quote adds value to a point I’m trying to make, you could find it here regardless of who said it.
Hopefully your brain will be challenged, your heart will be touched and you will be moved to action by the words of others. Your thoughtful comments are always welcome.
Thanks for stopping by. I would enjoy hearing from you.
